Good post about ROOTS. It seems the more we dig into the history of this area, the more myths we discover that have perpetuated.
And I'm sure there are a lot of Russians who think life was better under Communism. But, again they are oblivious to the hardships and lives sacrificed by the satellite countries of the former USSR to make their lives comfortable. I feel sorry for these people who were raised and educated under Communist rule. It's going to take a long time for them to see the truth.

Great posts about the history of the Ukrainian region. It seems the more we discover about this, the more we realize the pack of lies that have been perpetuated. I don't know how many people have told me that "Ukraine" means something on outskirts of, implying that it's on the outskirts of Russia. When, in fact, even if we understand that the literal meaning has changed over the years, it actually means the area surrounding Kiev.
And that Kruschev, I never knew he had such a soft side to him. I'll bet he was a real nice guy, once you got to know him.

Are you sure you really know how people lived under communists to feel sorry for them? What "truth" we don't see? What is that "better" in present days which such people like me are not able to get with our "deformated" by education in communists times brains? Would not mind to open eyes at those "benefits" for me? ( because our democrats were trying hard to prove that to us but managed to convince only a tiny % of population at each elections)
And I would like to know what exactly hardships and lives sacrificed by the satellite countries of the former USSR made lifes of Russians more comfortable than in other republics (in all times and especially in Breznev's years , as I spoke about them) and which I forgot about.
Also I'd advice to ask people from those other our republics what they think about those years because each time I meet anybody of them they told me they missed those times as well.
If you think that my words are far from reality I'd advice you to recall the results of referendum which took place in 1991 - 76% said "Yes" to the USSR existence - (which BTW has been ignored by democratic leaders when they signed papers about its death)

Americans vs communists? What does it have to do with anything? I've never been one, nobody in my family was, and there is something like 50 of us. If you have nothing else to say, go on and drug communism in the argumet.
Once again I amazed with American democracy. Yeah… delete all our posts, hear only what you want to hear. Typical.
