RUSSIAN BRIDE - Freely expressing her thoughts on all topics

Wow, you've been scouring online history reference sites all day and this is the best you can do? What a surprise that an article about "Ancient Russia" doesn't mention Ukraine. I noticed that it says, "The early history of Russia, like those of many countries, is one of migrating peoples and ancient kingdoms. In fact, early Russia was not exactly "Russia," but a collection of cities that gradually coalesced into an empire." How about if we check your site's reference page. Let's see, there's Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia... but no Ukraine? OK, you finally got me -- I guess it doesn't exist! (BTW, crying "censorship" is a cheap shot. There are plenty of women who call themselves a "Russain bride" on the board who freely express their opinions on all sorts of topics. It's not what you say, but how you say it (and maybe how obsessed one becomes in trying to prove a point.) ***************************************************** And that is exactly what Helen did. In fact the whole post before the part I quoted was her thoughts on how wonderful life was under communism, so if you are going to complain, please address Helen. ***************************************************** I found the Russian nationalist and the Ukrainian nationalist positions to be fantastically wrong. They are based more on prejudices and wishful thinking than on fact. But, this is not something only common to this debate. The same comment can be said about the English Candian who posted earlier in this thread about Quebec separatism. And the question of whether a person is a Ukrainian or a Russian is often more one of feeling than anything else. My wife consdiers herself a "Ukrainka". However, her language loyalty is steadfastly with Russian. Her immediate family comes from all over the FSU, including Russia, Moldova and the Ukraine. I am no more consistent. I consider myself Quebecois. And my language loyalty is French. However, I live in English Canada. My immediate family is pure laine only on my mother's side. History often does not play much of a role in people's feelings and nationalism. Many leaders of Communism in the FSU were "ethnic" Ukrainians. Stalin, under whose terror all of the FSU suffered was half Ossete and half Georgian and not Russian at all. The people now known as Ukrainian and Russian share a common heritage and history. It is a pity that they cannot see this fact clearly. ***************************************************** Yeah, I know the difference - Ukrainian women have a sexier accent! ***************************************************** All the same in the dark;-) ***************************************************** I enjoy reading all youre post's. But find my self talking like youre Avatar  Keep it comming ***************************************************** He is the president of the "Neutral Planet". If you really want to talk to him, he is quite quatable. At the very brink of diaster when he thought he was going to die, his last caring words were: "Tell my wife, I said 'Hello!'" ***************************************************** I recently read a post from a member here stating that most FSUW date men close to their age, say, within about 2-3 years. I sat down with a 22-year old lady and my wife who is 31 and we discussed this subject. The 22-year old girl is currently dating a RM who is 34. I asked her if she was not dating this man, what age would she seek when looking for a man. She said 35 to 37. Both of these ladies stated that at least 50% of FSUW date men who are 10-15 years older than they are. She stated it's very normal for a girl in her 20s to date a guy in his mid 30s. Saying that, I think the opinion of the previous poster was wrong in his assumption. Of course, my assumption is only based upon the opinion of 2 ladies. But, if I asked these ladies if most people speak English in Russia and they said no, should I discount their opinion because I only asked 2 people? I think the opinion that I received about the age range is correct.
