I have noticed similar what you said about the younger generation there. Older people still seem to have that Soviet KGB stamp... perhaps the electric shocks and bare wires and cattleprod method you spoke of with the movie theater :lol: :lol: :lol: ... they seem to view me as, the same way that older Professor does at your university views you - as a CAPITALIST PIG and AMERICAN PROPAGANDIST!
Tim you know, I have invited Valeria to come and visit me - but I sincerely doubt she can get a visa for the States. I will be in Germany again in August for several weeks this time, and the plan is for her to visit me there as she already had an EU visa previously, but never used it. Germany will be quite diffrent for her than what she is used to in Kherson or even Kiev. I will be staying just outside of Frankfurt am Main, and the plan is for her to fly there... it will be her first time outside of Ukraine; 1st time on an aircraft; 1st time to a Western country; and really perhaps the 1st time away from her family and the security of her home. All told - it will be extreme culture shock and I hope she is ready for it. Besides, shopping in Frankfurt is de'bomb!!! :cool: The expense that will be coming towards me... :confused: :wall: :chuckle:

Often the focus is on how to find the right Russian bride, thinking that as soon as it happens all troubles are over. But there is more to making the relationship work than filing a few forms and buying tickets. But I still think the trouble is worth going through ;)

the study cannot be taken seriously. this is a thypical subtype of selection bias, so called nonrespondents bias.

It is a weakness, but as you should know, if you know the words...
Not a reason to discount it.
The people participating were people involved in the process, they were a part of the universe of people seeking foreign spouses. There is no reason to suspect that the respondents would have chosen to respond differently according to the age difference between the couples. Moreover, the data matches the observed reality and thus is hard to discount, much as you might want to.

I've been around this board for two years. From all the threads and posts I've read from trip reports, to methods and age ranges discussed, and suggestions for age ranges to choose I feel the conclusions of the age range link is very typical of what I have read here the past two years. Although I do have to say I am an anomaly in that although I am 56 I have never looked for a woman younger than 9 years of my age. Somewhat different than the study.

I've followed your posts and I hope you can participate more as I think you are an example of what some of us guys should be looking for as I feel you have a strong character and is a woman of integrity.
This is what the guys that conducted the tests have to say.
"The most serious violation is that the sample (i.e., the men who responded to the survey) was not randomly selected from the larger population of all AM pursuing a relationship with an RW. Instead these men volunteered the information--also known as a self-selected sample--and they may be very different from men who did not volunteer; there is no way to tell. There are one or two other, lesser I believe, violations which may affect the validity of the statistical tests, but they get fairly technical and I will not attempt to explain them here."
