We all agree with that: that men tend to seek a younger Russian bride. We may even agree upon that it is done out of deep hidden instincts as younger women are seen as more fertile and more able to produce healthy offspring. What cannot be agreed upon is his slanted study with it's warped polling. If a 75 year old man wants to see a prostitiute, he is not going to select a 55 year old one, but a 20 year old one. This analogy is crude, but essentially accurate. Much of the polling, by pervious admission in this column was done self-sampling (error) and sampling an non-representiative segment (married men looking for sex overseas).

According to Buckle et al (1996), over 90% of divorces in England and Wales between 1974 and 1989 were initiated by women under 25 years old. The statistics show that divorces amongst young couples is more likely to be initiated by the wife, but as the couple gets older the husband becomes more likely to initiate divorce proceedings. The evolutionary explanation for this would be that a young woman who realizes that she has made a mistake needs to get out of the relationship as quickly as possible so that she can have children whilst she is still young enough with another partner. In contrast because men can continue to father children until they are at least 65, older men can divorce and raise a family with a new younger partner.

Everybody seems to agree with the conclusion made by the author of that survey, yet many argue with Andrew over nothing for the sake of it.
My point is that other researchers came to a similar conclusion using different approaches, i.e. as men get older they tend to be attracted to significantly younger women. Sorry, for repeating myself. :D

I agree with you. So if men get colder as time goes by with their same age wife, wouldnt it be better to marry someone that is 10 or 15 years older than you. That seems to be what the evidence points to to have a lasting relationship.

As a historian, I always have to laugh when the social scientists come up with a study or survey that just confirms what people used to view as common sense.
In Western history, men often did not marry until their 30s and they married women in their teens. Only the rich men (aristocrats, etc.) could marry women the same age. The whole point of marriage was to create a family. A young man in his twenties had to go out and establish himself--build a business or a farm. This usually took many years. A man would not consider a marriage until he had a home and enough money to support a family. Of course, he would marry an 18 year old who would be able to produce many children. And, of course, men are attracted to physical beauty--it is our nature. An 18 year old usually has better skin, has prettier hair, has firmer breasts and buttocks, and will usually produce children with little difficulty. It was not until the economic boom of the late 19th and 20th centuries that have allowed men to marry at a younger age.
And of course, most women desire security in marriage. And, of course, they desire children. It is a biological urge for them. These are just simple facts.
But nowadays we need some survey to tell us this. :p
