Russian bride prejudice
Well, I think a lot of Russians from the smaller cities have not had a lot of exposure to blacks or other ethnic groups. The first I ever heard this subject come up was a gal from a small town a few hours from Moscow told me in a letter about "the worst day of her life". Her tale went something like this. When she was in college she went to visit a friend who lived in another building and when she left and started down the hall a black girl came out of a room and walked towards her and passed her in the hall. That is the story. I think a lot of people would love to have that as the worst day of their life. I think she had just never been around a black person and the unknown scared her terribly.
Part 2 of 3. I met a gal in Kiev and spent 4 days with her last November. One of the days she started talking about Blacks and to be honest I was shocked by what she said as well as the words she used. I decided she would not be too happy where I am with the ethnic mix here. I would not repeat what she said.
Part 3. My fiancee seems to be the other way. Actually she worries me a bit because she seems to have a fixation with Blacks. On one of our ealry dates and at a point were we were pretty involved she said she thought the half white and half black babies were darling and she would love to have one. I thought if we end up getting married I hope you don't, I think I would like it much better if it were mine. I didn't say that, I just said, yes, they are cute. Another trip to see her she asked me if I ever wished I had been born Black.
My point here is that there seems to be a lot of differnt thoughts about it. On some of the romance tours we had some people with various ethnic backgrounds who seemed to have little problems meeting nice ladies.
Problems with other races and religions are in more influence of opinions of other people from both sides into your marriage :confused:
As for blacks then even live in Moscow you have not many chances to cross with black men All our opinion about them are mostly from yours americans movies :D (sounds silly but that's true) And all those your only-black areas in towns, some films with only black players, eternal fight for equal rights and so on put some thoughts about "rara avis " in marriage with blacks :rolleyes: I would not want to be responsible for history of slavery in America :D

Not entirely true....
Parents always have their opinions and that is the problems I have now (and in the past) regardless.
Sometimes their opinions are influenced by what they have seen on T.V., movies, newspapers, etc and that is where my mother gets her opinion.
Other than that, there really are no issues. Also, I think how you handle it has a lot to do with how it will affect your relationship.
Other peoples opinions can be ANNOYING but they don't let them guide you if you feel what you are doing is right.
