well... if one earns $25 000 he will certainly manage (and will be permited by the state) to BRING a woman to US, but in this case he needs a woman

4. ready to start walking as soon as she steps off the plane, making the same amount of money at least, otherwise they are going to starve living for $25. 000 together... The woman has to have a clear detailed understanding what style of life they will be living. I am sure he will still find someone...

Well I have received some good Russian bride advice. Thank you. I do make a little more than $50,000.00 which should put me way above poverty level. I seem to remember one of the members saying he spends in excess of $13,000.00 a year on this process. That scares me. That would be 25% of my salary. Andrewfi have you travelled at all from here or mostly from over there? Your number of visits is quite impressive.

Because you are in your 40s, I assume that you have been married before. If so, you have some idea of what it costs to keep an AM-AW couple happy. Logic suggests that the typical RW will be more expensive than an AW for the first year or two.
Why? Healthcare, especially dental, probably needs some catching up. Her wardrobe upon arrival will be minimal. You will need to pay for English lessons and driving lessons. She will not know how to save money either. Her need for assistance will keep you from spending as much time as perhaps you should with your job. She probably can not become gainfully employed at first.
OTOH, there are some competent RW who could start earning money soon after arrival. For example, I understand that qualified, English speaking RW can get a job as a nurse because of the undersupply of nurses in America. Some of these RW have an outstanding work ethic. If this is your RW, just be sure that she loves you because she will be independent and could easily leave on day 731.
Donna says it correctly, particularly about children. Please explain to your RW the lifestyle that 50k before taxes will provide, and be assured that she is comfortable with it.

I have spent a chunk of time in the US, but all my travel to the FSU/CIS countries has been from Europe and once from China. I put a number that is less than the real number, but don't count any more, but most of my trips are weeknd trips, every 2-3 weeks or so, seeing friends, although I now have an apartment in Estonia. I am sure there are guys who have spent longer, in total, than I with fewer trips.

I hope you are a newly graduated college man with better prospects than $19.5K per year.
To be a successful applicant for a K-1 visa you must make at least 125% of the minimum ($12.120 for a family of 2, assuming your g/f has no children), which comes to a very bottom of the barrel salary requirement of $15,150.00 per annum. Since you would then have to make it to the next level if you married the girl, that is, file for her adjustment of status, at that interview you would have to supply the BCIS with 3 years worth of income tax returns. As I understand it, all 3 years should show ample income, i.e., a track record of wage earning ability to support a family without them becoming a burden on the State. In other words, no welfare income suppliments in the furture for this family.
To be honest, I don't see how a < $20K salary would cut the mustard, what with the price of airfares to and back a few times, costs of filing fees, and a ton of "oh, by the way" you need this or that. I know of one guy here in my city with a decent job, ($50,000 +) who stupidly did this mostly on a credit card and wound up $25,000 in debt with MasterCard before his bride hit the USA.
I certainly wouldn't presume to tell you can't do this, I don't know your situation, maybe you have a rich uncle, I will caution you to consider carefully what you are asking for, and how well you might handle the financial aspects if you find someone.
