If you've ever tasted Marlin, you'd choose a different fish for your analogy

I've got news for you amazing, it was for that exact reason that the marriages were taking place. The Aussie gals were treated like ladies by the US sailors, something many of the local guys were lacking in - in fact, a large percentage of the marriages were biracial, indicating the ladies were pretty "open" in the kind of man they'd accept. And I was speaking about the 70's and 80's, not 40's & 50's. I'm not saying that you were in that local group but perhaps there is a segment of people in each society that will pick up and marry foreigners. I am moving across the country soon and to hear an RW comment, it was like I was up and moving away to a strange land. She wanted to know if it was common in this country. I related during the 70's when many northerners went from the rustbelt and northeast to the south for jobs, jobs, jobs. Many who remained complained that foreigners were taking their jobs and demanded that govt services provide them relief, protection, ad nauseum. The ones who left got jobs, economic recovery and a new chapter to their lives. Those who remained, well I do not know about them except that they repeatedly vote for liberal politicians who want to pick my pockets to pay for their social engineering and infrastructure. So, on track again, why the RW/UW would leave their country? To get ahead, to find a new life. You know, even if they came here with the intention to scam, she would have to be pretty hard to be with a loving husband for 2 years and not have her heart softened enough to give the guy a chance, especially if he was a great dad to any children. While it is happening, all parties are taking a chance. For some it is a real gamble, for some it is a contemplated, minimized risk action.

Evening. And apparently a few others.
Actually, the reason I don't read the Russian ladies board very often is because....well, I do have a life. I don't depend upon this board for entertainment. It is apparent that some do. If someone could seriously think that shuffleboard is an exciting activity in Florida, wow....no wonder other things seem "intense."
I realize now that there is a sizable contingent of "CB radio" people out there who have simply migrated to an internet forum. For them, yes, this is exciting stuff indeed! It is also disappointing if the juvenile behavor ("He shoots...he scores!") is the behavior of the most well informed visitors to the FSU. It indicates the immaturity of many of those aspiring to find a RW/UW. Disappointing, indeed.
Perhaps some emotional ages are closer to the RW chronological age after all!
So, I do stand corrected for suggesting that you work on your new relationship, at the expense of being active on this board. You're a Texan, and an American, and you can do anything you want to. On another forum, I know people who are newly married who take a "leave of absence" from the list to attend to other matters. They do that so they can place their focused attention on what matters. You do not have to follow that example. It was a suggestion given that should not have been given, considering the recepient.
Your one post regarding those from College Station, saying something like "Well, you're an Aggie, that explains it", indicates that you missed one of the main points of my post. And, isn't it interesting that the Aggie jokes started way back when even most of the Aggies were Texans?
While generalizations usually have a basis for starting, sometimes they are propagated for reasons other than a true reflection of life. Think what you will of Aggies or Russian women....your perceptions are already fixed. I agree that Life is easier when one does not have to call into question one's own biases or beliefs. Congratulations.
The lumping of the Russian women was an implication of your post on another thread. True, you did say "good" Russian woman, but you implied that this thread was boneheaded because it called it into question. Your extension of logic in this case was what I was responding to, not the marriage to a "good Russian woman".
I suppose I could respond to some of the other comments, and if I was trying to either entertain myself or others, I would. But, I am not.
I couldn't stand the excitement there in west Texas, so I moved to the uglier state of Colorado and could only climb mountains and mountain bike and ski, and now I am relagated to a place that can only offer scuba, jetskis, beaches, and the Everglades.
Hope your twin antennas on your pickup are picking up 5 by 5, and best of luck to you in the apparent entertainment capital of the USA.
