As for green card, I don't know, but could you tell me why none of those girls who marry american and whose marriage didn't work never want to return home and instead try all the means to stay here in the States? In Russian Wom. Abroad forum even the girls themselves are laughing from each other and say that "we never leave USA even if someone will use "ssanye trapki" (still cannot translate this on) on us".
But I do wish you all the best and hope that your future wife went to work in new country just a month or two after arrival only because she wanted it so bad, not because your financial situation made her do that. Good Luck!

That phrase is stsanye tryapki and I think that porvat' na stsanye tryapki means something like "rip to shreds". Tryapki means rags so they are either saying that they will stay in America if if they are ripped to shreds or maybe they are saying something about being left standing in rags.
In any case, you are right, they really don't want to leave. Not that it matters much anyway. America needs a steady stream of immigrants and if you add up the numbers of all such Russian women, it is still a drop in the bucket.
I think it is a good thing for men to go into this with eyes wide open, unblinded by the stereotypes of the marriage agencies. Reading some of the Russian language women's forums is a good idea. Learning Russian is an excellent idea.
But the best idea of all is to ignore the marriage agencies and to use dating sites instead. Some of the Russian dating sites include "foreign languages" in their profiles. If she puts English there then she is a possible. And there are sites like freepersonals.ru that make it easy to make direct contact with women. Scammers are everywhere including the agencies. But if you use your head you can avoid most scammers most of the time.

No more competition from me guys. I quit writing to women since I met Natalia and our correspondence since we met has gotten much stronger.
I agree that very few women are worth a response here or over there and to keep options open at home.
I think a majority of men here can do a better job evaluating the women and what their intentions are. Even when we do our homework, we don't always get straight A's. If I had only written to a few hundred women, I might have not found Natalia. Her photo in her profile was plain as she wasn't smiling and wasn't dressed to impress. I almost chose to visit other women because Natalia didn't send me the best photos and in one photo she was standing next to her brother in his military uniform wearing a ski mask! Her English isn't the best either but through her words in her letters, I figured her to intentions to be sincere. She's the only one out of a whole lot that I could honestly say I figured her out. I still had questions about the other women even though they were hot looking.
Natalia almost didn't write me back. She had plenty of men writing her and some in better shape than me. I am divorced with kids and posed as an average guy. Those facts would eliminate a lot of women from responding. Natalia said my first letter was different as it was interesting and ridiculous in the sense that I said I come home dirty after work. Natalia doesn't use an internet cafe and if it wasn't for her computer at work and a suggestion from a co-worker to fill out a profile on the internet, Natalia would be hard for any man to find.
How do you find gems? If you meet one, she's probably spoken for and these women are hard to find as they are not out in the open all the time like other active women frequenting parties, clubs and bars. A family orientated woman is probably doing family orientated activities. You might find some women at parks, the zoo, or just sitting at the cafe with her friends. Don't let opportunities pass you by when they present themselves. Gems are hard to find and I was prepared to settle for less than Natalia when it came to a woman but there's a limit to how much less I'll go.
I will say this about sincere women, they don't need your money, they've lived their lives before you and they can live their lives without you so they don't ask for financial assistance. Don't try justify less than sincere woman's antics as being normal female behavior. It'll make you immune to red flags and she'll empty your pockets and bring you a lifetime of hell.
